On Wednesday, the 25th of November 2015 - our third
day in Helgeland - we took the ferry to Dønna island. This is a small island
with approximately 1.500 inhabitants. Our tour guide picked us up and we drove
45 minutes to the Herøy Church. After visiting the church, we went to the Herøy
museum. First of all, we were greeted with fresh backed rolls and
beverages, with which we were very pleased. Unfortunately, the weather was not
very good that day. Even more, we enjoyed the lunch in the museum. We all felt
immediately very comfortable in the museum, because of the lunch directly in
the musuem. We ate in the old kitchen, in which were still objects from
earlier. Afterwards, our tour guide led us through the whole museum. We saw an
old living room, workroom, educational room, bed room, a room with a
lot of old clothes, a room with old books, wedding and family pictures etc. In this museum, a lot of old things were obtained, such as:
a record player:
a sewing machine:
a loom:
a spinning wheel:
I was very impressed of the museum. Because of all the
small rooms, it seems huge. In the museum are many old treasures hidden, which
the young generation barely don’t know nowadays. Because of this museum, I felt
demoted back many years ago. I like this kind of museum because one can imagine
how people lived at that time. It is very important to obtain museums like
this. It is increasingly difficult, for younger generations, to imagine how the
people lived many years ago. For this reasons, museums such as the Herøy museum, have to be obtained.
